Half Yard™ Winter Collection

This is such a lovely book to look through. The photographs are inspiring, and encourage you to look further into each project. Patterns use ‘normal’ language not sewing jargon making it good for beginners and experienced sewists. What a lovely book, full of things to make for Christmas.

Brilliant book, excellent value for money.

There are four sections full of fun and practical makes aimed at all levels of ability which includes a section for children. As always Debbie’s instructions are very clear, easy to follow with beautiful illustrative photos. There really something for everyone.

Apart from the projects there is a really useful introduction covering sewing techniques, terminology and everything you need to know to get you started. I have included a photo of a few things I’ve managed to make this week whilst waiting for further supplies to make more.

Being unable to decide which of Debbie's books to buy (first) the Half Yard Winter Collection was the perfect choice as it has a great range of projects. The projects range from those suitable for beginners (or a quick sew for the more experienced), the only difficulty with them is choosing which one to start first!

The book starts with a good introduction outlining some very useful tips for beginners and recommendations of what makes up a good sewing kit as well as an overview of general sewing techniques such as working with bias binding and inserting a zip into a seam.

Debbie's writing style is straightforward and instructions include plenty of good quality colour photographs which makes the projects easy to follow. Whether you are interested in home decoration, making gifts, ideas for crafting with the children or bag making, this book has something for everyone. This book has inspired me to try other sewing projects, I now have quite a list to work my way through.

The book itself is good quality, opens almost flat and is well bound so makes following projects easy and feels like it is going to last well.

Highly recommended and will certainly be looking at her other books once I have worked my way through this one!

I have many of Debbie's books and the latest title, Half Yard Winter Collection, is full of inspiring Christmas makes for all abilities.

I love the instructions on how to make each project, in written form and accompanied by clear photos. I couldn't wait to make one of the new projects and, loved making the wobbly Christmas trees. I have a feeling there will be many more made!

I love Debbie Shore's ease at making items that all can enjoy and how she shows you to achieve the projects yourself.

Her Winter Collection brings you projects that may remind you of Christmas's long ago as well as new ones to make. Alot of her projects make super presents. The photo's throughout the book are superb and show the projects off to their best.

Debbie gives you tips for a complete beginner, the sewing kit needed, information for before you start your projects, new ways to cut a circle and many more tips. The next section contains the projects; from a floral wreath with all the instructions to a rustic advent calendar, Scandi inspired stockings and a tree skirt etc.

One of my favourite projects was the Winter Gnomes. There are 40 projects within the book and it is mentioned there are 5 exclusive new projects to tackle. The section with winter gifts is a must for all, to cover a notebook and to make a jewellery roll for presents. Gift bags to make to hold presents and are able to be recycled year after year is a great idea.

Well done to Debbie for another superb book, l would recommend to add to her other books, or even to give to a friend as a gift as well. At the end of the book you get some templates to use for your winter gnomes.
